Mary's Mosaic by Peter Janney is perhaps one of the best books I've ever read. Rating it with 5 stars is not enough because it deserves much more.Most Americans who were living at the time can tell you exactly where they were the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963. I was 14 at the time & still at school in one of my 9th grade Jr. High classes when it was announced our President was shot. A prayer was spoken, school was dismissed & we were asked to go home quietly & reverently. When I arrived home my mother was glued to the television and crying. Shortly afterwards his death was announced. Just 2 days later my mother & I watched as Lee Harvey Oswald was shot & killed by Jack Ruby on live TV. My mother wasn't certain how to handle the shock & the fact that her 14 yr. old daughter had just witnessed an actual murder. Looking back, it was incredibly surreal. Nearly one year later, the murder of Mary Pinchot Meyer went unnoticed in our home. Although my father read the newspaper every day - every page from front to back - he never mentioned it. Having learned a little about Mary Meyer in my research, I decided to read Mary's Mosaic. I'm only sorry I didn't read it sooner.To begin with, the amount of research through official documents to eye witness accounts, interviews, taped conversations, autobiographies, biographies, and personal knowledge has been exhausted to create this amazing story. Peter Janney has given his life to seek justice for a remarkable woman who he had known since he was a little boy. She left an indelible mark in his life as the mother of his best friend who was killed at the age of nine when hit by a car. As she mourned for her son she gave Peter love and support during the most difficult times in her own life. When he learned of her death in 1964 he was devastated.This book reveals many things about our country, our government that will shock its readers. It will also confirm information that we've been told to ignore as "conspiracy theories", lies or unsubstantiated rumors. Read this book with an open mind, to desire truth & honesty. You will not be disappointed.
